Pancake Day 2021

Good morning everyone!

Happy Pancake Day to one and all!

Did you know that Pancake Day was the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday?

I am thinking that this may just be a great excuse to store up calories before the famine of no chocolate for 40 days and nights.....I know right :(....Chocolate and need pretty much equate together don't they?

However for Christians Lent was incredibly important and on Shrove Tuesday, Anglo Saxon Christians went to confession and were (shriven), doesn't sound good does it... but it means that God forgave them their sins and is known technically as being absolved from your sins.

A Pancake Bell would be rung and it still is today

How cool is that?

So I guess being nosy, I would love to know what you are having on your pancakes today and how many?

If you ask me, I would say good old lemon and sugar but if you ask how many....I couldn't possibly comment;)

Do feel free to tell everyone your ideas and yummy fillings...we all want to know!

Hey did you also know about Pancake Races, I can remember in the dinosaur era when I was little folk would race down the street, frying pans in hand and pancakes stuck everywhere :))

The aim of the race really though was to keep tossing the pancake two or three times and actually keep catching it in your pan whilst running and trying to look cool....I know right.....fun guys it really was and I think perhaps when Covid has disappeared what a cool idea for next year? lets do Pancake Races in Malton and Norton!

Maybe for charity and just for the sheer fun of being together once it is possible.....

Just make sure your pancakes are not too full of cream and custard or it could get very messy out there....

Happy Pancake Day Guys!!!

I love you all xx
